Public Service announcement – JB-HIFI $200 Gift Card Scam

Hello Friends on Facebook!

in the last 12 hours, I’ve noticed this creep up on my facebook stream from a number of you.

The link will bring you to a page that contain instructions on how to get your hands on the $200 gift card.

I was suspicious to the origins of the facebook app as it is being redirected to the domain.

Closer inspection of the domain reveal that it was only registered less than 12 hours ago, and belongs to a bloke in the USA  who cloaims his name is Jay London and goes by the email address

#nocleanfeed #fail

Two news items caught my eye this week.

First, the NBN got a boost from the Federal Government with compensation to Telstra and Optus for switching off their copper and cable networks.

And news that both Telstra and Optus will be imposing their own filters from next month.

According to the report, the filters will consist of a subset of child pornography sites as compiled from the ACMA blacklist, and unnamed “reputable” international sources.

Assuming that home broadband users will have to sign up with NBN once the copper wire and cable networks have been turned off in the next ten years, have we lost the #nocleanfeed battle?

Update 25/6 : Telstra & Optus have wound-back commitment to implement filter.
